Alterations, Mending & More
Alterations - 90% of people don’t fit “off the rack” clothing well. That’s a made up statistic but I still think it’s correct. For alterations, initial fitting appointments generally take 15-30 minutes. You leave with a quote but pay upon completion. Please plan to try on the altered item before you take it home so I can be sure the work is satisfactory to both of us.
Mending & “Refashion” - Don’t throw it out! Lots of things can be repaired or modified to make it work. **Gallery of examples to come**
Other Sewing Services: Just ask! Honestly, I love the “I don’t know if this is possible but…” kind of questions.
All sewing services are paid for upon completion. Prices vary, based on each job.
Sewing Lessons
I offer one on one lessons to get you started. For most sewists, getting started is half the battle. Basic knowledge a game changer. But knowing where to start, to get that knowledge, is it’s own challenge.
Sewing Machine Basics - Not sure how to use your machine? Could be you’ve never sewn. Or it’s been a long time. Or it’s a new (or new to you) machine. It’s basically impossible to sew if you can’t use the machine.
"Intro to” Classes - These are personalized classes, based on what you want to actually do. There are some universal basics but what you need to know to get started varies quickly when we look at quilting versus embroidery versus garment making and so on.
Classes are paid in advance, upon booking. For adults or children.
Kids Sewing Lessons
I offer sewing lessons for kids. But I handle booking of those differently, to ensure safety and success. When you inquire about sewing lessons for kids, I’ll want to talk to you about your kiddo. I will ask a lot of questions to ensure they are ready to learn to sew. Sewing can be slow. It is not a quick results endeavor.
Teens: If they can get themselves to their lessons, I don’t require anyone to be present during lessons.
Older kids/Young teens: This is more case by case and has to do with personality of the kiddo, as well as comfort level of the responsible adults.
Little kids: On a case by case basis, I offer lessons for kids as young as 6. For younger kids, a responsible adult does need to be present and participate in the lesson.
